Beginners Courses
Due to the high numbers of recent new starters the club is not intending to run any further Beginners Courses until the indoor winter season.  If you wish to go on a waiting list for the next courses please contact the club secretary using the icon below.
Beginners courses typically consist of six 2 hour long sessions usually run over consecutive weekends of which you must attend at least five sessions and attain a skill level to satisfy the course tutors.  On successful completion of the course you will receive a certificate after which you can apply for club membership with Aire Valley Archers or any other GNAS club.
The club provides all necessary equipment i.e. bow, arrows, etc for all participants.  This is a condition of our insurance policy for beginners courses so you will not be allowed to shoot with any of your own equipment.  We would strongly recommend that you do not purchase any archery equipment prior to the completion of your beginners course as your bow / arrows need to be specifically tuned to the individual.  Experienced club members will be happy to help you find appropriate equipment after the course has been completed.
There aren't any specific minimum age restrictions on who can take part, however there is a limiting physical factor whereby the participant needs to be able to draw the training bows supplied.  Where a child is taking the course we would always encourage a parent/guardian to also take part.
Beginners courses are currently priced at £40 per person with a discount of £15 on your first year's subscription if you choose to join Aire Valley Archers.
