Do you coach, volunteer or support activities with children?

From 1 September 2026, the supervision exemption was removed from the definition of regulated activity with children.

This means some coaches and volunteers may now need an Enhanced DBS check with children's barred list information.

If you coach, support sessions or volunteer with children, it's worth checking what the changes mean for your role. This is particularly important if you coach or volunteer across multiple clubs, schools or organisations, as activity across those settings may count towards the threshold for regulated activity.
