Fancy having a go with an archery bow, but don’t want to commit to a beginners’ course? Come along to one of our open day ‘have a go’ events and try it out.
Alternatively, if you’re a member of a club, social group or society, you could ask us to put together an event for your group to come and have a go. Archery appreciation events are a great way for everyone to try something new, as well as offering something out of the ordinary for your club members to enjoy.
We can offer tailor-made events, normally taking place on a weekday evening, for your club or group. Visit the Archery Appreciation page for more information.
Please note:- Due to the coronavirus our ‘Have-a-go’, Taster sessions are suspended. We are running very limited beginners courses and if you have registered we will try and contact you with further information when available.
‘Have a go’ Events
Aire Valley Archers run a number of ‘have a go’ archery events throughout the year. These events are open to all and give you a chance to shoot a few arrows for a small cost. They’re a great way for you to pick up a bow and see what it’s all about.
The events are run by our club members and coaches who will provide simple instructions and help you get to grips with the bow for a few minutes.
All would-be archers are supervised when shooting at these events, maintaining a safe and comfortable atmosphere for everyone.
Our events are often part of the Big Weekend event, which is coordinated by Archery GB and includes other Have a Go events at clubs across the country.
The Club will try and provide another Have A Go day next year (2021) and normally held on Sunday 30th May of the late May Bank Holiday. We rely heavily on our club members to support the running of this event so we do ask that as many members as possible turn up on the day – Normal club shooting will be suspended for the day and we will provide refreshments for all members attending.
This is an opportunity for the public to try Archery – meet club members and get information on the club and its activities. We make a charge for the arrows shot to cover the cost of the upkeep of the equipment used – this will be Club Bows and Arrows used in training and not members equipment. Some members will bring there equipment along on the day for demonstration purposes so please feel free to ask any of our members for information and advice.
Does your social group, club or company want to try something new or enjoy a challenge?
A bespoke archery appreciation event might be just what you’re looking for!
Our club members will be happy to put together a package for your club, giving your members the chance to try out archery in a fun, relaxed and social atmosphere. Due to the nature of Aire Valley Archers, all events must take place on weekday evenings only: apart from that, we’re open to suggestions and ideas. Get in touch and we’ll discuss your needs.
The cost for a two-hour basic package is £100 for up to ten archers; with a £10 per head charge for any additional archers (subject to change).
We recommend groups of ten so we can make sure everyone gets the attention that they need to really get to know the sport and enjoy the experience.
